Agra is a major tourist destination owing to the UNESCO World Heritage sites and the main one being the Taj Mahal. The tourists flock into the city throughout the year to experience the reflection of the Mughal era, it is never a bad time to visit Agra and witness the authenticity. However, visiting during the cooler months of October to March is pleasurable and better. Agra during Summer- From March till June
Summers in Agra are hot and dry; sometimes the temperature soars up to 45 degree Celsius. The night times are relatively cooler. This is not an ideal time to visit the city but not impossible. The benefit of traveling around summers is that the crowd is less and hotel deals are better. Carry some light cotton wears and sunscreens and enjoy the trip.
Agra during Monsoon- From July till September
The monsoon occasional but it generally begin from July and come as a relief from the hot summers by the locals. The showers are heavy, dropping the temperature in between 25 to 35 degrees Celsius. The view of the drenched Taj Mahal is spectacular and rare. Agra being a semi arid region receives the annual average rainfall of about 400 mm.
Agra during Winter- From November till March
Experience cool and pleasant climate during the winter season, the temperature can come down to 2 degree Celsius in the peak month. Winter is characterized by thick fogs, however, it is an ideal time for the tourists to explore and walk around the city at leisure. The temperature ranges from 8 to 14 degree Celsius.
The fairs and festivals are mostly celebrated during the winter seasons, Taj Mahotsav (February); Ram Bharat, Kailash Fair and Bateshwar Fair are the major attractions meant for your visit.
